Hi,

If i can suggest one travel location, and you are in Queensland, can i please suggest to everyone that you visit Moreton Island. This is an island 40kms off Brisbane, easily accessible from Brisbane by either water taxi, water boat, car ferry or sea plane. There is a resort on the island is a 5 star resort names Tangalloma Resort. This resort has a world renowned dolphin feeding experience as well as beautiful apartments.

Moreton Island is one of the largest sand islands in the world and forms much of the eastern side of Moreton Bay. The island is 38km long, and 9km across at its widest point and covers 185 sq. km.

The island consists entirely of sand apart from a small area of sandstone and rhyolite at Cape Moreton. Several different dune types, of differing ages are recognised by their form and soil development. Mt. Tempest is considered the highest coastal sand dune in the world at 285m.

One of the striking features of Moreton Island are the bare sand areas. The northern west coastline is dominated by a large sand-slip named "Yellow Patch" and the bare sand hills behind Tangalooma are a major tourist attraction.

Moreton Island supports a number of habitats - beach and dune communities, the rocky headland, lakes, streams, sedge and paperbark swamps, banksia heathlands, open woodlands, forests, mangroves and salt marshes.

I've been to Morteon Island with my family. We stayed in a private villa in Tangalooma. It was one of the most memorable vacations I've had with my family. It was amazing to wake up and see the ocean from the front porch. The beacj was stunning - we walked all the way up to the end where there is a wreeck of a ship. Later that day we hired a boat and took the kids fishing. You can also hand feed dolphins at dusk!

I also hear there is really great 4WD tracks.

Highly recommend this a a holiday destination!
