There is hardly a year that goes by that the Global Peace index; this is a product of the Institute for Economics and Peace, would not attempt to see the countries that are the most peaceful or the most dangerous. There have been indicators designed to show these dangerous countries, these indicators are 22 in number; number of jailed persons per 100,000 people, external and internal conflicts, terrorist activity, nuclear and heavy weapons capability, relations with neighboring countries, political instability, number of homicides per 100,000 people, and many more.
The Global Peace Index has made it known that the following countries are some of the most dangerous countries in the world.
The list would always begin in Syria. Today, the country has become the most dangerous country after the Syrian Civil war. The civil war could have been the end of these violence but it was only the beginning. In 2011, there were nationwide protests against President Bashar al-Assad’s government, but his government had responded violently and this led to an armed rebellion after months of military sieges. ISIS has become the world’s most terrifying terrorist group and nothing seems to be normal any longer with this sect.

The Somali Civil War was something that the world wept for, it started in 1991 and has not ended. The resistance to the Siad Barre regime was one of the factors of its unrest, today, there are numerous rebel groups, different factions and clan based armed organizations that are joining in the country’s conflict.
For nine years, the Iraq war made headlines and in 2011, the war finally ended but the end only brought another deadly thing to the country, unsolved conflicts. This has not ended and there is no solution on group to end all the kills and bombings in the country. The Islamic state is on the increase and the world has joined forces with the country to crush the sect but that has not been possible.
Finally, the South Sudan has become an independent state since July 2011, the country has not known peace and this is affecting the growth of the country. The ethnic violence is much as the Sudanese nomadic conflicts has become unbearable. A lot of displaced persons are still refugees in neighboring countries.
In 2011, the war started in Afghanistan and it has not ended. Thanks to the intervention of the allied forces and NATO but no good has been achieved. The war is still on and Al Qaeda is still reigning in some parts of the country. Hundreds of thousands have been killed, maimed, displaced and suffering. Once in a while, the violence of this country would make everyone wonder when the madness of the conflicts would ever end.
The prayer of everyone is that peace would come to these troubled regions of the world. The war against terrorism has not been won and the violence in these countries are getting sophisticated day by day, we only hope that one day, there would be peace in these regions.
