The word airport can prompt all kinds of reactions: horror at the thought of using the airport bathroom, anger at the gate change that caused you to miss your connection, and on occasion, even joy at having a smooth, stress-free experience.
What is your opinion about the best airport in the wrold?

Here is my personal recommendation of airports you would be happy to visit

Sarasota-Bradenton: The water walls, plants, and aquariums add much class and make it so unlike an airport. No endless shuttles here ? just sun and palms.

Minneapolis-Saint Paul: In addition to being a pleasant airport, you can catch an inexpensive light rail train right at the airport. In one direction is a beautiful park and the other is the Mall of America.

Singapore: It has indoor gardens, a free movie theater with comfortable seats, a barber shop, a hotel, scores of shops and 300 free internet kiosks.

Munich: Clean, modern, open, easy connections to rail, well-marked and friendly staff.

Portland, Ore.: You know that you are in the Pacific Northwest as you walk around. Large floor to ceiling windows look out towards the Willamette River and woodsy scenery. Also, there is a playroom for kids where they can crawl and play on a huge airplane.

Here is my list of top 10 airports, some based on personal experience, others from friends experience

1 Hong Kong
2 Singapore Changi
3 Seoul Incheon
4 Kuala Lumpur KLIA
5 Munich
6 Kansai
7 Copenhagen
8 Zurich
9 Helsinki
10 Cape Town

I have just passed through Zurich Kloten yesterday and Munich in May, I would Zurich much more highly. Far and away the nicest airport in Europe and so easy and slick to get into Zurich. I think the best airport in the US is either Austin or Orange County. But the Asian airports do deserve the accolades they attain every year

So what is your opinion ?

I spend most of my air travel around Europe so my knowledge of International airports is somewhat limited, however, the nicest airport that I've flown in or out of is Malta (Luqa). It seems that the nicest airports seem to be where the nicest people are, irrespective of size, for example my two top departure and arrival destinations are Singapore (really big) and Malta (really small) both full of really nice and helpful people. I also only ever travel on the cheapest possible flights so I can feel that I can judge on a relativel even base. My flights to and from Malta have all been with Ryanair - don't expect any frills, by wow! I don't know how thy can fly for the prices I pay. The service at the airport however was five star, passport control, bus & taxi services (cheap and close-by) and the time between landing and exiting the airport.
Multiply by a thousand and you have Singapore. Same ethos, great place to fly to and from (and for a lay-over) My flight was delayed by some 14 hrs (not the airport's fault) and I slept really soundly in the lounge - never bothered by "Security" etc and I got free coffee and wash / changing facilities!
If you're reading this, Thank you Singapore Airport  and
Thank you Malta Airport. and to all the really nice people who work there!
p.s. try to avoid London (Luton)

Hello

Seoul's Incheon International Airport has been named the world's best in the annual World Airport Awards.

Incheon beat out last year's winner, Hong Kong International, which fell to second place. Singapore's Changi came third.

Australia's airports were nowhere to be seen in the top rankings, with Auckland named the best airport in the Australasia/Pacific region, coming in at number 10 over all. Brisbane and Melbourne were named the second and third best airports in the region.

Asian airports dominated the awards, with seven of the nine service awards going to airports from the region.

Thanks. :nightlife:)

personally i'm not really a fan of any airport. i find them boring and overpriced. what makes it worse is that you have to be there for so long that you end up spending a fortune

I don't think there is such a thing as the best airport. The best airport is the one I don't have to spend much time in. I like it when my connecting flights are a short walk from one another. If I do have to spend some time in an airport, I like the ones where I can watch the news on TVs, the bathrooms are clean, there is free wifi to check emails and ones that are climate controlled and there are plenty of comfortable seating.

Singapore Changi airport is the best, it has 80 airlines serving 200 cities in 60 countries. Around 4500 arrivals and departures are handled at this best airport of the world. The total annual handling capacity of the airport is close to 70 million. Around 40,000 sq meters of commercial space makes this airport as the largest shopping hub as well.

It's worth a try. "I want to be the world's best swimmer," one said, "so I can swim instead. *when she took you to the airport and saw a sign that said "Airport.
