Travel To Bulgaria
It was in the month of February when we all decided to go on a family holiday to Bulgaria, Europe. Ah Bulgaria! It is popular for its archeological sites and its beaches. Whenever I remember the trip, my mind goes back to the beautiful world. There are a few world heritage sites in Bulgaria and some of the world’s finest beaches. We planned for a seven days family vacation in Bulgaria. We landed in the city of Sofia which is also the capital city of this paradise on earth. Only the remembrance of the city fascinates me so much.
As this was a long trip, we decided to visit few places in Sofia and then move to the sunny beach. We started off with a world heritage site. It was the first time for me as well as for my children’s to visit a world heritage site. We went to the ‘Alexander Navesky Church’. This church is a fabulous example of the excellence in architecture created in the earlier part of the twentieth century. It is one of the finest churches I have ever seen in my life. In the church it feels as if you are present in the heaven. We got a full peace of mind while being there. Prayers go on for the whole day. For children, it was the finest place to take pictures. Very enchanting!! Though it was dark inside and we were no getting very clear pictures, we got some fabulous ones from outside. This is a typical orthodox church. The art work inside the church is amazing and interestingly it has not been damaged yet. So the visitors can go and enjoy the beauty of the work. Only after seeing the church, I was sure that the trip to Bulgaria would be amazing. We got a superb start from this place.
Next, we visited another church. It is also a world heritage site in Sofia. Boyana church is considered to be the oldest church in the region. This is somewhat outside the Sofia city. The Boyana church is regarded as the starting of the renaissance. You have to pay a small fee to enter the church. We hired a guide too and this made our visit even most memorable. Steven told us that the paints here were painted around 300 years before Leonardo da Vinci was born. I was totally amazed to see this art work. Steven told us everything about the church. It improved my history, though I am not so good in it. The garden outside the church is also just amazing. It is a small church but still the most beautiful creation of all times.

The Military museum of Bulgaria was the next place we visited. This is also a few miles outside the Sofia city so you need to hire a taxi to go to this place. As I said earlier, I’m not much fond of a history class, and that’s why I never thought that a museum can be so fascinating for me. The museum is an excellent place to spend 2-3 hours in there. They charge a ticket to enter the building. There are so many military equipments in the museum; the mere sight will keep you amazed. Tons of guns, tanks planes and almost all the ammunition used by the forces are put on display in the museum. Military vehicles are aligned to display in the outside courtyard. The museum proudly depicts the Bulgarian military history. My overall experience was very fascinating, though I believe the people there must pay some attention to the equipments as they have started rusting.
After the museum, we had the fabulous food in our hotel and had a sound sleep. Next day we were going for hiking. Little john and Michelle were very excited. We went to the Rhodope Mountains for a hiking Tour. We left early in the morning and started early with a local hiking guide. He was the most helpful guide one could be. We attained a good altitude on these hiking trips. We could easily see the clouds below us. This made us feel like being in heaven. Though we faced some problems in breathing, as the altitude was increasing, but our local guide told us to take deep breaths. This ensures more supply of oxygen and very soon, we were back on the track. We were to stay in a local village at night. This was also an amazing experience. We got to see the amazing scenery and that too in a very tailor made and reasonable budget.
Once we were back from the hiking tour we all were tired and decided to rest in the first half of the day. At around 1300 hrs, we left for the Nassebar village. This is a lovely place with thousands of ships and small shops. We spent a great afternoon over there. We all enjoyed a small boat ride in the area around. The restaurants here are famous for their fresh fishes. We knew this and we ordered it in a restaurant after the boat ride. Then we left to visit the inner streets of the place. The Bulgarian culture is depicted in this place. It will leave you amazed. I forgot to mention this place is a UNESCO’S World cultural heritage site. So we could not stop us from taking a glimpse here and we never regret that. This was the best place to spend time after being tired from hiking.
On the next day morning we were all set to go for another adventure tour. This time we were going for a Kayak Safari. It was a fabulous kayaking experience. It was the first time for kids and my wife, though I had enjoyed it earlier also. Kate and Ian are the owners of this place and they made this trip worth remembering. Their help makes the trip look amazing. I love water sports and Kate made it best for me. This was something different and more exciting than the regular water parks where I was bored of going now. One can easily spot the wildlife while peddling. This site is amazing and makes it different from the water parks. We all enjoyed the time here and the company of Kate and Ian. They were like a friend there for us. Though we were least interested in returning from there but had to come back to our hotel room. We still remember the place and want to go back there.
Next day we were going to the Quads safari in Bulgaria. This was the last place we were visiting in Bulgaria. This was a surprise gift for the kids from my side. The main instructor there was an interesting person and we enjoyed a lot along with being safe. The quad bikes were in amazing condition and we enjoyed the fabulous mountain sites in the place around. As usual it was also a fabulous day for all of us, especially the kids.
The quad safari marked the end of our journey to Bulgaria; though we missed many places which were still on our list but could not pay a visit to because of the shortage of time. The places we visited made me feel like going back and visiting them again. It was very hard for us to leave Bulgaria and go back to our place. But because of the work we had to come back. We are looking forward to another fabulous trip to Bulgaria soon. I would suggest anyone who wants to spend a quality time with his family should once think about a trip to the amazing Bulgaria.
