Travel To Toronto
My sister and I traveled to Toronto for our usual girl’s vacation. We landed at the Pearson International airport after about seven hours and cleared with the customs department before being allowed to collect our luggage. We then found our way to the hotel room we had booked at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Airport Corporate Centre. The hotel was pleasant, comfortable and offered good value for money. After checking in at the reception, we hauled our luggage into our room before going downtown to the Hard Rock restaurant for a late. While here, we were also able to tighten our itinerary that would officially take effect the next day.
From our experience during our travel to Toronto, I can guarantee you that whether you are visiting for the first time or making a subsequent visit, this city has so much to offer. We had been in Toronto three years ago and had seen some of the popular attractions like the CN tower, the Niagara Falls, Ontario Science Centre and the Toronto Zoo. Amazingly, our second visit was punctuated lots of fun compared to our maiden visit.
We first began by going on a food tour because this is one of the things that we had planned for during our first trip but we had to drop it because time could not allow. The food tour by the Culinary Adventure Company was an unforgettable experience. The chef took us on a tour of Little Italy while giving us a lot of insight on the various cooking techniques as well as ingredients that are commonly used by most of the restaurants in Toronto. The food was so delicious and we even got an opportunity to try some new recipes. The highlight of our food tour was the Little India Tour where we sampled various traditional Indian dishes that we had never eaten before. The food was truly outstanding.
We also opted for a day tour of Toronto that was organized by Toronto Urban Adventures. This is one of the best ways to get around Toronto as we were able to discover fascinating sights, uncover back streets and other hidden gems. Moreover, the tour also allows you to have a feel of how the locals live because you will get acquainted to not only the traditions and culture of Toronto but also the local food. Although the tour can last up to an hour, we spent 3.5 hours since we were not very new to this city.

The Segway tour is another great activity that I can recommend. This is organized by the segway of Ontario that also offers other great activities that include walking tours as well as bicycle rentals among other fun activities. My sister and I did the Horseshoe valley Tour under the guidance of the well knowledgeable tour guides. Although we were both worried about using the segways, we understood the drill fast and had so much fun that as we were leaving; we wished we had some more time. Given another opportunity, we will definitely do it again.
Whenever we are on a girl’s vacation, we usually find a way of treating ourselves and so during our travel to Toronto we spent some time at the Body Blitz Spa as we saw it fit to spoil ourselves. It was a little shocking to see some people naked because the spa has that bathing suit option for its clients. Going to the spa was a great idea because we had an awesome water therapy as the friendly staff served as drinks by the pool. Even then, it is the body scrub that blew us away as we left the spa feeling rejuvenated.
Another great place to visit is in Toronto is the Riverdale Farm that lies on an expansive 7.5 acres. The farm has ponds, gardens, wooded areas as well as farm animals that you can visit. Visiting this park was therapeutic as we got to enjoy the peaceful and serene atmosphere that I can only define as an escape from the city even without driving. This farm is ideal for both adults and kids as they will get to see animals without having to go far from the city.
We also went for some water fun at the Harbourfront Canoe and Kayak Centre that offers guided tours, sea kayak, canoe, voyageur and paddleboard rentals among others. Here we decided to Kayak to Toronto Islands in what has remained to be our most memorable water experience. While at the Island, we enjoyed a walk along the beach before having some snacks we had brought along. When we returned, we could not resist having a feel of the Dundas and Yonge Street that is the meeting point of two streets where people hang out. This place that can pass for a micro version of Times Square is made up of neon lights, huge billboards and has street performers.
We took this opportunity to go on a shopping spree at the huge mall where we both were keen on purchasing clothing items and some gifts for our parents. Thereafter, we enjoyed some seafood at Red Lobster even though there are many other cafes and restaurants that meant more choices of food to try. A walk down the Trinity Bellwoods Park was a rewarding experience as we saw drummers, people practicing tight rope walking, guitar players and other forms of artistry. After the walk in this park, we went to Queen, a French patisserie that has tasty croissants.
Our love for art led us to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing arts that is also home to Canadian Opera Company as well as the National Ballet of Canada. This centre boasts of a free span glass staircase that is also the world’s longest and was a great sight to behold. We were also lucky to catch ballet performances in this great ambience. On our last night in Toronto, we went out for dinner and some music at the Lula Lounge. We did not regret this decision because not only was the crowd here friendly, multi-generational and diverse but the music was also great. In general, our travel to Toronto was great and we can only look forward to the next visit.
