A Romantic Visit To Beijing, China
It all started with a suggestion that I made to my boyfriend for a visit to Beijing during our next vacation and my boyfriend decided to take that very seriously and started planning for our trip to Beijing. I had previously heard of some praises about Beijing as one of the best places for a good holiday tour from some of my colleagues and others in the neighbourhood who had gone there. I told my boyfriend about it because I had a two month vacation ahead and he was also expected to have a short leave from work in the next two months. Both of us were to have free time together to enjoy ourselves. I just mentioned it jokingly but when he also researched about Beijing, he found out that there is more for a great adventure in Beijing and we started planning for a visit to Beijing together.
We took Beijing Bullet Train to Shanghais to view the scenic railroads along the way as we headed for great adventure in Shanghai during our first day of the visit. We booked the second class on the G train to Shanghai and it was great. That was a very new train that was very enjoyable to travel in. If you have not tried it, then you have actually missed so much in your life. It was very tidy with comfortable beds, LCD Televisions in the rooms. The night train was just amazing for the two of us and we shared a room. My boyfriend loved everything especially the fact that he could watch the TV as well and have a good bath in the clean bathrooms. We saw the locals who were there with some noodles that they carried to the train and used some hot water from the dispenser in the carriage to make some and we felt that we should also do as the locals next time. When we were going back to Beijing from Shanghai, we also brought with us flask to the train with some tea leaves so we could have some comforting hot drinks.

The next day, we were back to have some good time in the Beijing Zoo to spend some time with the animals. This is actually the oldest zoo in China as the locals there would tell you. It has several animals that are very amazing to have a look at and even share your good time with. It is located just in the west of the Exhibition Centre in Beijing. We were able to see the giant panda, white-lipped deer, golden monkey, red crowned crane and several other rare animals from other parts of the world. There was also a well kept garden of flowers that stretched natural scenery with the trees, small stream, small hills and some stretches of grassland. We loved everything in this place and we really enjoyed being with the animals then we moved to the hill and also spent some few minutes in the garden and in the exhibition. It was wonderful being in that place.
We also visited the Beijing Aquarium also known as Beijing Haiyangguan just situated within the zoo but in a different area within the zoo complex. This was a wonderful world class aquarium with strange and magnificent fish. There is also the marine mammal section with dolphins, Amazonian rain forest with piranha, shark aquarium and the coral reefs. This is a must-visit place in Beijing. We enjoyed everything in this place from the great displays of the variety fish to other aquariums that was worth buying a ticket for even if the ticket was a bit expensive. This was just the best place to see all kinds of creatures that are displayed in such a serene manner and we loved it so much. We will definitely visit this place the next time we shall have a visit to Beijing again and we shall also make for the show in the zoo that we missed as we were busy admiring the aquariums on the other side of the zoo.
We moved to Beijing cultural and heritage centre for more information about the culture of the Chinese. This is a cultural centre that actually provides education, capacity building, training and networking to help the Chinese people protect their culture and heritage. The centre was actually started by an independent Chinese NGO to help them in cultural heritage protection, society building, and media mobilization among other activities that they focus on. It was great to be in that place as we got more information about the culture and lives of these people in that small but very crucial organization. We loved it so much and the work they do is very incredible. We were taken around with very wonderful people who are fun to talk to as they were very knowledgeable about their area of focus that they helped us to lean in this place. It is a place worth visiting if you love education on culture.
It was time to have a wonderful tour with the Beijing Private Guide Daphne which proved to be the best guide in China. The guide was just amazing and funny. We made a bet that the next time we wanted to have another wonderful tour then Daphne would be the next in the list. The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly that we just felt that he was one of us for the tour. They were very flexible and easy to work with and we really enjoyed our one day tour around Beijing in different places with this nice guide. This is the kind of guide that my boyfriend said he would recommend to everyone especially to his colleague who was about to have a vacation there after some time.
We decided to move to the Bike Beijing –Bicycle Kingdom Tours where we spent more than three hours travelling by bike as we enjoyed this place in such a unique way. It is a fun and exhilarating way of transportation and recreation. It is also safe, economical, environmental friendly and convenient means of travel that we really enjoyed having in this place with my boyfriend who loves bicycles so much. The Olympic bike tour and the imperial bike tour that we had there was just so wonderful and the guide that we had made it even more wonderful than we had expected. The people there were also very great and they really treated us with respect and honour which made us to even want to stay there longer to continue enjoying everything. We even took the pictures that were so amazing that every time I see them the memory of this place becomes very fresh in my mind. We will definitely do more of this when we return there for another visit.
We also went to the Guangzhou Beijing Road Pedestrian Street in the neighbourhoods to have some taste of the street foods and to buy some clothes. The clothes there were very cheap and nice and we ended up buying several of them that we didn’t even expect to buy. I was very surprised by the street food there because they were very different from other street foods that I have known in the world. It was just so amazing eating as we also played some of the Chinese games and drank some few bottles of beer. We enjoyed this for the last day of the visit since our budget was becoming very tight as we also bought some other things like the clothes to carry back home. We also spent some time in a certain hotel that was just so awesome.
We loved everything in Beijing and we are already planning for another visit to this place. The experience we had was so wonderful that it is still fresh in our minds.
