This place Dalhousie is situated on the northeast of Himachal Pradesh and is situated on five hills. The name Dalhousie was given after the name a British Governorgeneral, Lord Dalhousie who declared this place a tourist attraction. This place Dalhousie was founded in the year 1854 by Lord Dalhousie as the climate and surroundings impressed him very well.

This place Dalhousie is situated almost 9000 feet above the sea level and it is on the western edge of the Himalayan mountain range (Dhauladhar mountain). This hill station is a wonderful place which is covered with snow capped peaks. Tourism is the important part of the economy of this place. This place is having many interesting and exciting places to visit for its tourists. When To Go:

You can all this place Dalhousie as a place which welcomes its tourists in all season and hence is a place for all seasons. As this place is ideal for visiting at any time of the year, it is good to decide first the purpose of your visit to Dalhousie, like is it honeymoon, just a tour with your family or anything else. If you are planning your honeymoon or planning to spend some special time with your partner, then you can choose to go between December to January or between September to November. December and January are the months when you can witness beautiful snowfall.

The summer season is also good at this place as this is a hill station and the temperature is going to be moderate even during summer. The Summer season starts from  March and is going to continue till May. Winter starts in the month of November and lasts till March, this is a very good time to visit Dalhousie. The temperature sometimes goes down to minus 3 degrees and it will reach maximum of 15 degrees only. Ideal time to spend in a hill station. Now it is completely your choice about which climate you want to enjoy at this hill station or when you are free during the year. You will normally, find people all round the year, but winter is the time when you can get accomodation easily and at a very affordable price. And if your trip is during the Summer then do not forget to make your arrangements in advance else your trip may get more expensive than what you planned or you may end up disappointing your family members with bad facilities.

Dainkund Peak

Dainkund Peak or also called as Dain Kund is one of the most interesting places in Dalhousie. This place is occupied by the Indian Air Force and you will have to park the cars at the beginning of the air force barrier and then enter inside. This is one of the most common places when you are visiting Dalhousie. In the olden days, there was a belief that this place was occupied by the witches and hence this place is also known as the Witch’s pond.

This place Dainkund peak is having another name and that is Singing hill. This place is almost 2700 meters above the sea level and hence making it a great place to enjoy the view of the surrounding places. It can be a bit difficult for you to reach to the peak of the place, especially if you are traveling along with your kids. But once you reach the place, this is going to be the best part of your trip to Dalhousie. Your trip to Dalhousie would be definitely incomplete if you are missing this place and you will definitely regret it later. Khajjiar

This place is known as the mini Switzerland in India and an awesome place to visit in Himachal Pradesh, Chamba district. This place is very close to Dalhousie and is just 24 kilometers away. This is a very beautiful hill station which is surrounded by dense forest and green meadows.

Khajjiar

If you are a nature lover, then you will not feel like leaving this place even after you are done with your trip. There are many cottages and hotels available on the top of the hill. They are a bit costly, but you should plan to stay at least for a day or two. The best thing that you are going to enjoy here in Khajjiar is the lake and you can even go for a nice pleasant walk into the pine forest. You are definitely going to fall in love with this place.

 

Chamera Lake

Another interesting and awesome place in Dalhousie is Chamera Lake. You will just have to spend two hours for reaching this place and it is a wonderful place to see in Dalhousie. If you cannot wait for two hours, then you still have another option to reach this place quick, like as quick as possible and that is you can hire boats.

The lake is completely surrounded by many hills and hence making it more interesting for the tourists. It seems a bit costly for a small duration boat ride, but once you get into the boat, then you are going to enjoy the ride to the fullest.

There are many Beautiful Churches in Dalhousie. If you can get some time to visit these churches then you would be amazed by the interior designing of these churches. There are many churches like St. John’s church, St. Patrick’s church and many more.

The location of these churches is really amazing and you should definitely visit if you can at least find an hour's time. Ganji Pahari

If you have been to the Bakrota hills in Dalhousie, then you should not miss the Ganji Pahari. This place is a very famous walk in Bakrota hills, Dalhousie. It is just five kilometers away from the city and is a fantastic place to enjoy along with family. There is another interesting name for this place and it is “Bald Hill”. There is a reason why this hill is known as bald hill and that is you will not find any trees on the top of the hill.

Ganji Pahari

It is just a plain hill and looks as if the place got bald. You can spend a nice time with your entire family here. This a picnic spot for many local people and you can spend great time here. You also get a great panoramic view of the surrounding places from this hill top and the view is definitely breathtaking and mesmerizing. You will just need one hour to take a pleasant walk around the hill while enjoying the cool breeze, but this is a place where you can spend even hours. There is one point that you should take care when you are visiting this place. You should make sure that you visit the place and come down before it gets dark as there will be some wild animals like bears on the way. You need to plan it accordingly.

One of the best and most interesting place for those love shopping is Gandhi Chowk Shopping Plaza. Yes, this is the place where you can shop many local items. Mostly, you will be able to buy winter wear at a very cheaper price and the price completely depends on how well you are able to bargain.

Garam Sadak

Another interesting place to take a nice walk in the Dalhousie’s arms is Garam Sadak. The reason why this place is called as Garam Sadak is because of the temperature in this place. This is one of those rare places in Dalhousie which receive the direct sunlight.

Hence, this place can be a bit more comfortable and relaxing for the tourists who do not like too much of a cold weather throughout the trip in Dalhousie. The road is a criss cross in shape and makes it interesting for the people who are taking a walk in this place, but if you are going for a walk in the late evenings then better carry a torch along with you. This road is good to take a walk during the daytime between 8 to 10 am, so that climate is not too hot or not too cold.

 

Sach Pass

Another interesting place in Chamba district, Dalhousie which you should not miss is Sach Pass. This place is normally not open all round the year, enter in this place opens in the mid of June or in the early July. Entry to this place is closed in the month of October.

The road to reach this place is very narrow and it is going to take almost 7 to 8 hours. Make sure that you are making arrangements for your drinks and food as they will not be available on the way. If you are planning to visit this place along with senior people or kids then please avoid kids and seniors to this place. You will love the walk and the time that you get to spend at this place and hence do not miss this place.  Plan one complete day for this place only.

 

Bara Pathar Temple

Bara Pathar Temple or Bara Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in this place Dalhousie. You are going to spend some peaceful and interesting time at this temple, but before you reach the temple, you are going to enjoy the most picturesque views on your way. It is hardly going to take you four hours to reach this temple from the center of Dalhousie but it looks as if you are traveling in a different place with a huge snowfall and awesome breeze.

If you want to enjoy the real view of this place, then you should plan your trip in the month of January only. The temple is of Goddess Bhavani Mata and you should not miss this drive or the temple. Once you reach the temple, it is going to be really peaceful with a lot of greenery and flowers around you. The temple is in the middle of a forest and you can enjoy the nice fragrance of the flowers as you enter inside the forest.

There are many beautiful lakes in this place and you should not miss the Boat Rides in this place Dalhousie. There are different kinds of boats and you can choose the one which suits you. You can go on a close group boat ride or the open group ride.
