You can see a small tower on top and in the middle of the roof. The Angelus Dei looming tower has a total height of 45 meters from the floor. The north tower which resembles a fortress called the Tower of David represents Mary as the source of protection against the powers of darkness and evil.

Jakarta

The Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Indonesia in Miniature Park) is located on a large site on the outskirts of Jakarta. The park can be reached by taxi but the faster option is the public bus that has its own bus lane to avoid traffic and congestion. Each of the 27 regions in Indonesia has its own pavilion here and a miniature representation of their culture and way of life. The facility is very nice and worth a visit. You can visit many houses in traditional style from the various Indonesian provinces - most from outside and some are also accessible. The houses are spread out around a pond and in the busy Jakarta where a walk can be pleasant despite the humid atmosphere.

 

Yogyakarta

The Prambanan Temples were almost completely destroyed a few years ago and has hardly been rebuilt but you can still see a few buildings standing high and mighty.

Java

Located 25 kilometers away from the temple ruins in Yogyakarta, the Borobudur Temple is a splendid temple complex that stands in very good condition. If the clouds are clear you can see from a distance the Merapi Volcano which covers the entire landscape with its ashes that was discovered by Europeans back in 1835.

The volcano stands close to two hot springs around the area. On the way back, there are stalls and hawkers selling tasty strawberries that are richly produced from the farms within the cold mountain.

The Tangkuban Perahu Volcanic Crater is best explored wearing a good hiking boot to appreciate the beauty of this natural geologic formation. It is constantly flocked by tourists who marvel at the magnificent activity of its crater edge. It is an ideal place to both enjoy the silence and nature and a great reward after a 45 minute hike through a tropical rainforest. It has beautiful surroundings and an interesting lightly bubbling crater that completes the scenic charm of the mountain.

 

Ubud

The Bali Bird Walks is a great place for both children and parents whose admission ticket is quite expensive but the price includes access to the opposite reptile park. The promenade park contains an impressive number of bird species and a colorful aviary that includes lots of small parrots. The park is very lovely and you can walk into a typical greenhouse jungle with different species of birds flying all around.

Ubud

Ready your cameras as you are allowed to take pictures of lovely birds that you can take home as souvenirs. It is located behind the town of Ubud along a wonderful area called the Campuhan Ridge Walk that is full of beautiful rice fields. You need to take a short hike and be amused by the rich flora and fauna that surrounds this attraction as you pass by the fields.

 

Kuta

On a trip to Bali in the town of Kuta do not fail to make a stop at the legendary Waterbom Bali. You are guaranteed to have a great day to enjoy all the slides (9 in total). Compared to all the smaller shops out there (like mini mart) the prices of the basic products here are definitely much cheaper. You will also find a good souvenir - Shop for Bali - Coffee and the traditional kitchen utensils. This area is of course very crowded with tourists who wants to bring home sweeties and souvenirs from Indonesia.

Kuta

After a day of hiking around the forest pamper yourself with a visit to the Banjar Hot Springs and have a fun and relaxing day at the same time.  At first it seems the water looks "dirty" but, it is not. It is a reflection of the vegetation and the stone that acts as a bath to provide the characteristic greenish color to the water but once you soak yourself inside you forget about everything. The hot water comes cascading from the source in fact the baths are spread over 3 levels. In the first tank (tinier) the water is really so hot that you will prefer to go to the bigger tank with water that is not too hot. Then move on to the hot tiny bath that is definitely warmer and relaxing.

 

Gili Islands

On Gili Trawangan, you can take a walk along its white sandy beach and discover that the priceless and serene sunset is just waiting for you to admire. Aside from having good coral reef areas and ideal diving sites the rest of the atmosphere is truly magical, fun and filled with travelers and friendly locals. In here life is simple, very nice and quiet with clear water snorkeling areas. It has no cars and motorbikes, only bicycles, horse and carriages are allowed to ply its quiet road. The Gili Islands are truly a breath of fresh air! It is a perfect place for relaxation from the hustle and bustle of Bali. Gili Trawangan is the most populated and where most tourists go if they want to observe the beauty of the waters and a perfect night out adventure. You can swim with turtles or just take a mask (or a snorkel), and you can observe tropical fishes. Diving gear equipments can be provided by the certified diving agencies around the area. From here, you can also visit the nearby beaches of Gili Air and Gili Meno which are also very nice and quiet.

Gili Islands

The dive site is where you will see countless turtles and sharks up to more than 2 feet inches wide along with the cute seahorses on the ocean floor. Lembongan Islands

Take a scooter as you explore this charming island and when you reach the highest cliff called the Devil’s Tears stand on the top when the swell is strong if you are not afraid to take a shower.  It is a stunning place with perfect sunset that provides the most relaxing views after a swim on the beach. Visit Devil's Tear on a day when the sea rages considerably and be amazed as the sight of the waves crashing against the rocks that looks spectacular!

Lembongan Islands

As you explore the rest of the island on board a scooter, do not fail to visit the stunning little park called the Mangrove Forest. Ride a small canoe and look for the hidden tar vegetation and a view from the boat of the wildlife animals that resides along the coasts and forest paths of Lembongan. If you visit it at a time when the tide is low, you can clearly see the colorful varieties of tropical fishes and interesting underwater corals.
