Reply #1So I think your only option is to fly. The main airports in NZ are Auckland and Christchurch and you can get connections from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in Australia...start by looking at Qantas.

Reply #3I know some friends a few years back caught a freighter from Aus to NZ, maybe start at http://www.freightercruises.com/main/reservations.html, but am sure there are other options.

Reply #5As flying is the only option - the next thing you'll need to do is secure a good airfare. Qantas and Air New Zealand used to hold the monopoly over the trans-tasman flights, but these days you can get some awesome deals with Virgin and Jetstar. Both these airlines have happy hours when they discount their airfares even more - so it might be a good idea to check out their websites to confirm when they are held.
