Port Harcourt is the capital of Rivers State that is situated in the Niger Delta region,Nigeria. The city referred to as the ‘Garden City’ was founded by the colonial Governor general Lord Lugard in 1912 but is named after the then British Secretary of state for the colonies, a man named  Sir Lewis Viscount Harcourt in  the year1913. It is the heart of Nigeria’s Oil industry with virtually all major multi-national oil companies being represented there such as Royal Dutch Shell and Chevron.

If you are coming to this city, apart from all the greenery and blue water that can be seen at the port side, Port Harcourt is an exciting city, full of fun and activities. In Isaac Boro Garden Park, lies the tomb of  Major Isaac Boro who was killed in the Biafran war, a location for trade fairs and live music. And if you would want to have a taste of the rich culture of Port Harcourt, your destination should be the Rivers State Museum those houses artifacts that relates to the state’s ethnic groups or the Cultural Center, where you can buy locally made handcrafts.

Port Harcourt International Airport is the third busiest airport in Nigeria that is serving more than 1,081,587 passengers. It consists of a single terminal that has separate facilities for the local flights and its international flights, located in Omagwa, a suburb of Port Harcourt city.
