Doha is the capital city Qatar, a city that was founded under the name Al-Bidda.  The name ‘Doha’ came from the Arabic ad-dawḥa, which means ‘the big tree.’ Doha, Qatar is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf with a population of 998,651 in 2008. It is Qatar’s largest city with more than 60% of the country’s population living in it and around its suburbs.  The city is the home of the Qatar’s seat of government and also home to the Education City, an area devoted to education and research.
