Sierra Leone is a great country with unique tourist attractions to visit. It is actually located on the west coast of Africa. It is a country that is majorly dominated by the Coastal tribes for centuries now and this makes it the best place to visit for good historical and cultural scenes and events, the wonderful museums, wildlife, clubs and good hotels among other spectacular attractions. We spent quite a good time in Sierra Leone with my boyfriend. The beauty of this place cannot be undermined and that is why I am here to give the full story of our visit to Sierra Leone. I am the one who came up with the idea of visiting Sierra Leone for our holidays since I had seen its serenity online and I just wanted to have the reality feeling of being in Sierra Leon. My boyfriend actually agreed with me and we started making plans for that particular visit three months earlier. It worked very well and I am very glad that I went to Sierra Leone.

Our tour started with a visit to the Sierra Leone National Museum. This national museum is located in Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone. It has some traditional Sierra Leone arts that you cannot miss to see. It is a place full of great adventures from the superb Bundu masks, stone carvings, and nomoli to the minsereh statutes that are produced in this country. These are not part of history that you can just dismiss. They are worth viewing and learning more about. When we went to this Sierra Leone National Museum, the staff members were actually very delighted to welcome us very happily and we got a warm welcome just as they do to other visitors who come to this spectacular museum. Being here and learning more about the country’s history was just very wonderful. It was clear that somehow the country has not recovered fully from the civil war because the traditional arts were not very much as we actually expected. My husband had done his homework earlier and he already knew a lot about the country and the museum.

From this wonderful museum, we moved to Tacugama Chimpanzee sanctuary which was forty minutes drive outside the town of Freetown, Sierra Leone.  This is about 100 acre Sanctuary which is located in the hills of the western part of Forest reserve. It was just a wonderful place to visit with the cute chimps that we got the chance to see. It is a small oasis that is very close to town and I just love being there. We had booked a hotel earlier on and the accommodation was very well organised with pleasant staff that were very friendly and understanding to the visitors. We had a fantastic time and my boyfriend even wished that we could stay there longer than we had planned but we had to back to work since we had spent good part of the vacation.

We decided to move to another place with the lovely beaches in Sierra Leone. We went to John Obey Beach that is known to have pure natural beauty. We actually spent the night by the beach fire under the stars and this was very romantic especially because we were very much in love during this time. It is actually one of the best beaches in the world. It is actually surrounded by the brackish lake with the mangroves and forest covered hills. My boyfriend could not hide the happiness in his face as we enjoyed this serene place with the beaches that looks like a paradise. We were able to join an incredible project of an Eco hotel called ‘Tribewanted’ which is run by the local community as it produces it's own delicious meals. This is a wonderful project for sustainable tourism in this place. It is being managed effectively through the help of two foreign people who help to teach about the management of the place and this has made it to prosper effectively.

The following day, we visited another different beach in Freetown called the Lumley beach. It is really a great place for jogging, walking and strolling. We could actually admit that this country of Sierra Leone is very blessed with very wonderful beaches. We had a walk along the Lumley beach holding our hands as we enjoyed the greatness of this place. That place had a perfect an endless stretch of golden and white sand and makes you feel heavenly as you walk along. The beautiful blue waters, the sea side rocks, those tall coconut trees and the amazing view of the sunset makes you want to live in that place for the rest of your life. When it is topped up with the delicious sea food that are sold in the restaurants and along the road side then you may want to make the place your next home. I actually loved this beach with the same capacity of love that I had for my boyfriend because everything there was so awesome and perfectly in place to make your vacation a lovely thing in your life. Before we could move to Aberdeen we had some drinks and refreshments at the beach bars and it was very good. I just fell in love with everything in this place.

When we left the Lumley beach, we moved to Aberdeen which just within the town. It was a very nice place where we had a great time together just relaxing as we enjoyed the some good star beer and perfect Sea food. We eventually made our way to the Aberdeen village where we were able to see the way the krio-population usually go about their daily businesses. Calling it heavenly can be an understatement as it can take away your breath with its great serenity that makes you want to spend so much time there. I couldn’t believe it when my boyfriend wanted to extend his vacation so that we could stay in Sierra Leone to have so much fun that we deserved but I had to convince him otherwise so that we could have the urge to come visiting the place again.

We could not miss seeing the great landmark in Freeman and that was definitely the cotton tree. It is a very huge tree that actually towers some of the buildings that surrounds it. This cotton tree is considered as something done by the very first freed slave. By the time the freed slave was making this effort in landing, the place was a little bit deserted but currently it is right in the middle of the city. The population has actually improved drastically with several people moving to the cities making it very necessary for the cities to be expanded. This place was worth seeing just to realise how some landmarks are meant to depict very important things in the community and those around them.

We spent the rest of the entire time we had in Paddy’s bar as it has all that we wanted at every particular moment. It was fun to be there as we enjoyed ourselves a lot. I love dancing so much and I got just what I wanted in this place. There was a great DJ and the dance floor was so wonderful with a covering and even some other place for dancing in the outside especially for those people who don’t feel like dancing on the patio tables all over the place. The bartenders were very friendly and efficient in their work.  I had my delicious meal of roast beed which is made of meat and a shish kabob while my boyfriend was playing in the pool because he loves the pool games so much.
