A Visit To Granada
Just behind the spot where the Sierra Nevada Mountains meet the lush plane of the Vega, and right in front of a sharp mountain, you’ll find the city of Granada. It is the capital of the province of Granada. Sounds confusing? Well, the capital city is named after the province itself and it’s near the confluence of three rivers, the Biero river, the Darro river, and the Genil river. Now, if you have yet to add Granada, Spain to the list of places you want to visit, I suggest you do it right now. In fact, don’t waste your precious free time going through a list, just pack your bags, and hop on a plane and head straight to this wonderful city. You must probably be wondering what is it about this city that got me hooked and well, let me just say that what isn’t.
Right from the moment I stepped foot on the shores of Spain, I was greeted by the warm atmosphere. There was this sunny climate, where the temperature is just perfect, especially during the seasons of autumn and spring. The stunning ambiance of Granada welcomes every tourist with open arms. There is something exciting and thrilling about being in an exotic foreign country, and Granada is the best example to this excitement and thrill.
The city of Granada is a beautiful and wonderful place filled with gorgeous and well-designed architecture, innovative water ducts, and flooded with delightful plants and flowers. Me and my friends hit off our trip by eating at this beautiful and elegant restaurant called “Restaurante Paco Martin” Well, we couldn’t go sightseeing with empty stomachs, could we? So we stuffed ourselves with some traditional Andalusian cuisines. Seriously, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Not only was the food exquisite, but the place is also well decorated and bright. You’ll feel a sense of content the first moment you enter; the service is also excellent and the people are very friendly. And the best part about the restaurant is the prices of the food are actually affordable.
Of course, the trip wasn’t just about food. We got the real party started by checking out the palace of Alhambra. The palace is decorated by Arabic scriptures that are maneuvered into consecrated geometrical patterns wrought into arabesques. I’ve always loved places like this. The striking architectural design is what attracted us. We actually just wanted to find a perfect spot to take the pictures, but it was the history and story behind the fortress’s walls what pulled us in. There is no doubt in the fact that this place is picture perfect and you would love to snap many pictures of its grand architecture.
One of my friends, who was with us, loved to study the history of places and she loved to talk. So she explained that the Alhambra was specifically designed and built for the last Muslims in Spain. After a while, specifically in 1492, some of its parts were used by Christian leaders and the Palace of Charles became a part of the Alhambra fortress in 1527. For years, this architectural masterpiece has been ignored through the history and it wasn’t until the 19th century, when European scholars rediscovered this palace, that it was put on the radar. Since then, it has become one of Spain’s main attractions.
As much as we wanted to stay, we knew there were still lots of places we needed to check out so we decided to move on and head straight for the peaceful gardens of Generalife. I swear that the moment I stepped foot in the place I felt like a Disney princess; I almost broke into a song! This was my favorite destination during the whole trip. I absolutely loved the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful gardens and the striking water features. I have never considered myself a romantic person, but I was seriously picturing to have my wedding there. This garden is a perfect combination of beauty and serenity and you can have wonderful time with your partner in this park. You will not ask for a place more romantic and more serene. Just picture yourself walking down the aisle surrounded by beautiful flowers, just the thought of it sounds breathtaking. We loved spending time in watching the variety of colorful flowers and trees. The greenery of this garden refreshed our mind.
I wanted to spend some more time in this beautiful park but I couldn’t do this because my friends had dragged me to a new destination which was Mirador de San Nicolas. This place is located on of the highest points of the Camino Nuevo. And when I say “high” I mean “high”. The trip to climb there demanded us to put a lot of energy but the moment we arrived, I have to say that it was totally worth it because the place is unbelievably gorgeous. The place was perfect for a picnic or to just hang out and enjoy each other’s company. The scenery itself was beautiful but what I enjoyed about the place was the fact that it’s the perfect spot to see the Alhambra palace. I think that the Mirador de San Nicolas is a great tourist spot and it is the best place in Granada City to watch the sunset views. You must visit this place to watch the breathtaking views of sunset that will make you love this place. We did watch the sunset views from this place and words couldn’t even describe how amazing it was.
Granada is a great city and it looks even better during the night. I must say that the nightlife of Granada is very lively. The moment the sun went down we went straight to party at one of Granada’s night club, Cambodio. Though I and my friends had a bit of trouble getting there because it was sort of difficult to get a cab to drive us to our location since it was a long way from where we currently were. But as soon as we arrived, I can honestly say that the trip was definitely worth it.
The thing that my friends and I loved about this night club was that it isn’t like the other ones. Cambodio night club is very different from others night club that I have been to. Well, how about the fact that it’s carved in a cave? That’s right; the club is carved in a cave. Now you can’t get more unique than that. There are four levels in the whole place. The cave feel is more palpable in the first floor, while it looks more like a traditional building. Also, the second floor is reserved for some fun flamenco dancing. We head upstairs where the real party was on, and we were greeted by a thumping remix of modern American music that made us want to just jump in the middle of the room and dance. And we did just that and it was fun. Though the party scene was fun and exciting, I suppose what really got me was how friendly and warm the people are. And the patio just outside the 4th floor was the perfect spot to observe the beautiful night sky overlooking the equally beautiful streets of Spain.
We were very tired after spending the whole night at the club. But, as I mentioned before, everything was worth it. My time in this city was surely enjoyable and undeniably unforgettable. I am certain that I and my friends would visit there again if we get a chance. So the next time you’re on your Holiday, I think it’s easy to see where you should head to. If you’re looking for the trip of your life, don’t hesitate, just get everything ready and fly to Granada, Spain. A place where you’ll experience adventure, culture, romance, and thrill at every moment and every second you spend there.
