Hi every one

Just joined the group.  Will be travelling to the UK next July.  Can anybody recommend a good, not to expensive B & B hotel or guest house near Basildon.

Thanks

Hi,
A good and in budget hotel in my opinion is Holiday Inn Basildon
Location: Cranes Farm Road, Brentwood SS14 3DG, England

I have stayed in this hotel three - four times per year. It has changed a lot since my last visit in June this year. It looks much cleaner and the staff attitude and service has changed for the better. The whole place has a friendly welcoming feel about it. Restaurant selection and decor need some improvement.
The price is very cheap for what they offer, so check this hotel out.
The cost is around 66 pounds for standard room.

If you were looking for a B&B / guesthouse rather than a cheap hotel, perhaps you could try looking up either The Mulberries Bed and Breakfast in Brentwood or Brentwood Guest House. Both of them have their own internet sites so you can look them up, and in my opinion would offer a more friendly, personal experience than a hotel chain.

Both seem to have rooms from about ?40 a night and are a similar distance from Basildon itself; out of the two, though, I would probably go for the former (Mulberries) but that's a personal preference!

Hi Bogota

Thanks for your advise.  Looked up the Mullberies and we immediately liked it and we are thinking of booking it especially because of the WiFi access commodity.

Thanks again

Hello............

The Chichester Hotel is ideally situated within the Basildon, Wickford and Rayleigh triangle, close to Benfleet and Billericay which provides the perfect base to explore the treasures of  rural Essex.

The hotel is constructed around a rectangular courtyard garden, two  sides of which are flanked by bedroom accommodation and the other two sides by the fully glazed lounge bar and beautiful Gallery Restaurant, so named for its display of original modern art.

Thanks

Hello to you also

By coincidence we went to the Chichester hotel in July, cause I booked the mentioned (Mullberies) B & B, and after two weeks I received an email that he had made a mistake and made a double booking.  The Chichester is a good hotel with helpfull staff, good breakfast and comfortable rooms.

Thanks

Mario

if you are just after a room to sleep in and are not staying too long then consider staying at something like a travelodge or holiday inn.
although the rooms are a little generic they are perfectly acceptable and can be incredibly cheap. usually they also include breakfast and there will be a pub or bar nearby that does evening meals.
