Exploring Brum-the Home Of Industrial Heritage

Birmingham is the second largest city in England, popularly referred to as ‘Brum’ a cultural and vibrant hot destination with glamorous shopping malls, nightclubs and buzzing pubs that keep the city lively.  The architectural makeover around the city is innovative with lots of manufacturing industries that has transformed the city as the workhorse of the world. The lifestyle of Birmingham is flexible and easily to adapt to with luxury hotels for visitor’s accommodation and relaxation.

The exciting nightlife in the city is electrical, along the Broad Street there are lots of stylish clubs and underground venues for night activities . You can visit the late night Birmingham pubs if you want to stay up all night. Music is something that you would come to love when you are here. The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra attracts a lot of visitors to its Symphony Hall where a lot of groups perform weekly.  This music ritual has been in existence since 1834.

For a city that has a massive industrial heritage, the city houses great historical centers. The Aston Hall which is a reminder of the English Civil War is a popular place to visit. During the Christmas period, Aston Hall by Candlelight brings tourists here to witness the whole Aston Hall ground lit by colourful candles, this happens every two years.

The Cadbury World is one place you may not want to miss while in Birmingham, this is a tour that would take you through the history of the Cadbury Company and Chocolate, you are offered free chocolate which is what those with kids would be forever grateful to.

Coming to Birmingham exposes you to a lot of religious, spiritual and national festivals, these festivals can be the Birmingham Tattoo which is a military show that is held every year at the city’s National Indoor Arena.  If you are lucky you would meet the Birmingham International Carnival that is fashioned after the Caribbean pattern and takes place in odd numbered years.

St Patrick’s day is the largest day event that brings thousands of visitors for this colourful festival and  every August,  there is the African and Caribbean culture that are celebrated with street performances  and parades by buskers.

Birmingham Airport (BHX)

The Birmingham Airport was formerly called the Birmingham International Airport that is the base for Monarch, Flybe, Thomas Cook Airlines, Ryanair and Thomson Airways. It offers international flights and domestic flights. In 2013, it recorded around 9.1 million passengers and the airport is the country’s seventh busiest airport. The airport is served by an excellent transport system which makes transportation very easy.

There are numerous car hire services in Birmingham that can be seen at the Birmingham Airport. Visitors are advised to make use of these car hire companies instead of the buses and taxis that are everywhere. The city is full of activities always and this is what has given the city some of the best hotels and other accommodation options like motels and budget hotels.
