travel forumhismileyI would like to share with the community my 2 weeks trek experience on the Coast Path of Pembrokeshire....

I did it 3 months ago, and I was thrilled by the views, you cross outstanding cliffs and over 50 beaches,

if you do it in summer time you get light till 23 so the days are really long.....

What makes the Pembrokeshire Coast Path one of my favorite treks ever is the variety of landscapes you pass through on your way along it, ranging from steep limestone cliffs, undulating red sandstone bays, volcanic headlands and flooded glacial valleys. You can also spot plenty of colorful butterflies, seagulls and if you are lucky you can see the seals sunbathing on the shore.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail twists and turns its way through 186 miles of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in Britain.

From St Dogmaels in the north to Amroth in the south, the trail covers almost every kind of maritime landscape from rugged cliff tops and sheltered coves to wide-open beaches and winding estuaries.

Lying almost entirely within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park —Britain’s only coastal national park – the trail displays an array of coastal flowers and bird life, as well as evidence of human activity from Neolithic times to the present.

In its entirety the Coast Path represents a formidable physical challenge - its 35,000 feet of ascent and descent, The path has more ascend than climbing the Everest EX yet it can also be enjoyed in shorter sections, accessible to people of all ages and abilities, with the small coastal villages strung out along its length offering welcome breaks and added enjoyment.

travel forumHere are some interesting facts useful to know before packing....

* It runs for 186 miles from Poppit to Amroth
* It passes 58 beaches and 14 harbours
* The Pembrokeshire walkers bus services cover the entire path
* The variety of landscapes en-route makes every mile unique
* With north, west and south facing coasts, the views are always changing
* There are some picturesque and charming towns and villages to visit en-route including Tenby, St Davids, Solva and Newport

If you have any questions about the Coast Path or about Pembrokeshire please let me know....

I will be happy to answer your questions....

Emil

Hi emil, thanks for your interesting and informative post on such a  beautiful part of the world. I've spent a lot of time in Pembrokeshire,  and I would say that it's definitely worth visiting and if you like plenty of activity, spending a couple of weeks  trekking the coast path. If you love spending time in the nature,  the clean air, stunning rugged scenery and abundance of wildlife will  mean you return from your holiday feeling relaxed and refreshed and if  you trek the the coast path then a little fitter too!
Here are a few pictures I took in Pembrokeshire in 2010, they were taken at Broad Haven South beach on a pretty summer's day.. It doesn't always rain in Wales!!
