There are lots of holidays and special days in Great Britain around the year. There is no dull moment for tourists when they visit the UK because of the numerous activities that have been lined up for them.  In the month of May, visitors are treated to some amazing activities and holiday ideas. The attraction centers and cultural activities are fun fuelled for people who are in the country during this month. The fun does not end even for love birds that are looking for places of romantic getaways. If there is something that you would love, it is the opportunities that are open for culture lovers and for those who cannot get enough of the rural life.

Events in Great Britain in May are seen in a lot of places and some of the festivals and events are centuries known. Hamlet, villages and towns in the UK have their own special traditions that are planned for months with choreography and costumes, not to forget the presence of exotic meals.  Take a trip to the Celtic festival of fire called the Beltane that is experienced on May 1st

 

This festival is known to make the beginning of summer and fertility is celebrated.  Beltane has its roots in Ireland, Isle of Man and Scotland. Today, we can experience the modern Beltane that is popular in places like the Thornborough in Yorkshire, Edinburgh, and Butser Ancient Farm  which is situated in Hampshire, in these events, there is a 30 foot Wicker Man that is burnt at the day’s sunset.

 

On May 5th and 26th, the Great Britain have what is called the Bank Holidays, it always fall on Mondays and it is expected that every work and school is abandoned these two days. There are lots of excitements that happen if you are in the UK during this period. You can have a lot of exciting moments because of the many activities that happen during these holidays.  There are street parties and the dates vary in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England.

Holidays and Special Days in May in the Great Britain  can be the cultural activity of well dressing that happens in Derbyshire, where the wells of the city are decorated with pretty mosaic like pictures, seeds, tree barks, moss, berries and lots more. The Rochester Sweeps Festival happens on the 4th to 6th May and it is used to celebrate the cleaning of chimney.  There are  the Christian festivals that include the Ascension day and the Whitsuntide, the latter takes place on May 19.

Events in Great Britain in May can be experienced on May 24th where the people of the people of England celebrates the South African War and finally on May 29th, the Oak Apple day is celebrated which celebrates the birth of Charles II who was said to have hidden behind an Oak tree when he lost the battle at Worcester.  In May,the Great Britain experiences one of its best tourist moments and a lot of people from around the world visit for these many events.
