My Trip To Disneyland, Anaheim
Taking that 30 minute drive from Walnut to Anaheim to attend my eldest daughter’s Disney wedding was an excellent way to reminisce how I use to drive her to the famous happy place when she was a kid. As a doting father, I want to be there to witness how my own princess will take on a whole new world with him. Taking advantage of my short leave from teaching I joined them as they got wed and enjoy a tour of Anaheim. I brought along my second wife Jasmine and our 8 year old son to enjoy that weekend trip. It was an excellent and memorable family adventure for all of us.
My precocious son can’t get enough of the flight simulation experience he had at the Flightdeck Air Combat Center. It is located along the Orange County Freeway not far from Highway number 5. We both enjoyed it actually as we’re both given individual device to operate. After getting suited up like a real flight enthusiast I sat on my chosen vehicle and carefully study my own cockpit. There are choices for a 747, Boeing jet, or an F-16 Flight stimulator. The experience is a thrilling one from preparing to take off, engaging in dogfights and plus the fact that I felt like Tom Cruise on Top Gun complete with shades to that effect. It was so much fun for me and my son. However, the respective flights must be booked in advance because there are not enough places for spontaneous visits and flights plus the flight usually takes between 30 to 90 minutes. I am a great baseball fanatic and I love to enjoy that heart pounding atmosphere that forms in a stadium and I could not miss having that experience when we went inside the Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The well maintained green lawn was superb and everywhere we sit allows a good view. There were plenty of food and drink stalls on the whole site and in all levels.
For a day at Disneyland Park you need a lot of good humor, patience, and a good budget to be able to enjoy all the attractions inside it. Prices are of course as high as anywhere but we had great fun. I was able to avail of the free Fast Pass System which significantly reduced the waiting time for each ride or attraction. In addition to the individual attractions there are many souvenir shops as well as food delight adventures like, burgers, fries, grilled foods and sausages. There are also stalls selling fruits and fresh fruit juices. The park is so meticulously planned, organized and carry a wide range of fun attractions for the young and old, a happy place indeed! A picture beside Mickey Mouse and his friends is a must for every young a t heart. Aladdin, It’s Tough to be a Bug, Muppet 3D, Toy Story are just few of the reasons to spend a day at the Disney California Adventure Park. Add the World of Color and it seals the day beautifully. My 8 year old son enjoyed all the rides even the Tower of Terror. We spend a day and a half and it was perfect. Downtown Disney offers a flinch of flair that is completely free unlike the other two parks. The small “town” consists of numerous shops, attractions and restaurants in a spacious pedestrian zone theme. It is a good end to a day full of Disney moments.
The Honda Center is a beautiful and relatively new National Hockey League Stadium where the Anaheim Ducks Hockey always held their matches. It is also a favorite venue for other sporting events and concerts. Compared to other stadiums I find this arena very clean, even the toilets were fine. In between game breaks the food stalls were very crowded and the steep slopes of the seats provide a better view to enjoy a good hockey game. The two hockey games we watched were high class and exciting. The opening show was really well done. The atmosphere was quite good with comfortable seats and excellent view of both games. Outside there are lots of parking space and catering shops that offer good food. After the games we watch a special concert performance of Michael Buble’ at the City National Grove of Anaheim. I secured my wife and I with a front seat viewing experience on this highly modernized concert venue complete with two large screens beside the stage that is well lighted as well as great acoustic sounds. After the concert we had a great photo opportunity with the famous Canadian crooner which my wife and daughter were so thrilled to meet. We enjoyed an intimate dinner and a nice show all in one place. Excellent stage and lighting special effects as well as very polite and helpful guides inside, it is the best concert venue in Anaheim.
My family and I had a great fun time when we blazed the karting race tracks of the K1 Speed Anaheim. My son and I felt like expert F1 drivers as we chase each other along the challenging courses. It looked like real race tracks complete with slick tires and the properly marked and flagged areas of a finish line course. There was a real NASCAR race car on display at the small exhibition room as well as sports car parts that look way too cool. We had fun doing acrobatic stunts on trampoline at the Sky Zone Anaheim Indoor Trampoline Park. This is a perfect physical activity that is ideal for children of all ages. After signing up for membership and filling out the waiver form, my son can not contain his excitement to try it out. It was great exercise as I spent a lot of energy jumping, doing lot of acrobatics, and teaming up with him against other father and son team. It is safe and the helpful staff monitors this aspect diligently. On this site there is a mini restaurant, tables and TV’s for those who are patiently waiting while their athletes are enjoying the trampoline. My wife and daughter enjoyed shopping while we enjoyed playing indoor volleyball activity inside the electronic powered trampoline here.
For a great mix of shopping fun and adventure Ultraluxe Anaheim Cinemas Gardenwalk is the place that has it all. The convenient location of these shopping center and cinema provide a better alternative and another way to enjoy the glitz and glam of this famous city. We had a great opportunity of watching Oz the Great and Powerful on one of its 8 cinematic theaters and their surround technology was superb. The audio was booming from all sides of the theater and it adds to our total enjoyment as we watch a great movie. The perfect addition of the mall gave a good impression of how practicality and convenience can all be found in one place. The restaurants we discovered inside and their wonderful cuisine were a delight to our selective taste buds. My wife shopped till she dropped well literally that is, because she manages to find everything she needed for home, jewelry, kitchen gadgets and everything she fancied. I enjoyed the cinema and watched two more movies before deciding to call it a day.
It was a perfect way to end our Anaheim tour and a great way to get intimate with my family as we shared the laughter and fun during our stay. It was comforting to see her Disney wedding finally came true with his own prince charming. I will visit her again any chance I have and enjoy the city too.
